A 2005 Kia Rio has oil on the gearbox housing. What could this mean?

There is a leakage somewhere and if the oil is dark ( nearer to black) it is from the engine. It most likely is from the gasket or seals.
If the color of the oil is red ( maroon or dark brown, it is from the transmission and could be from one of the cooler hoses or sensors.
