I am installing a new swaybar link on my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. How do I keep the bolt from turning when tightening the lock nut? One side tightened but the other just turns. Is there someway to hold the bolt without damaging the boot?

Clean it off there should be a flattened spot on it so you can put a wrench on it to hold it sometimes if yo have an impact you can run them down ok.

No flat spot. Bolt just barely peaks above the nut. Cannot get even vice grips on it. Any other idea or is it ok where it's at as bolt now spins both directions either to turn down or remove.

You might try pushing up on link or pullin g down on bar to hold the bolt so you can tighten it. It is not ok to leave any fornt end part loose. You might try some thin nose vice grips to hold it by the boot. Areyou sure there are no flat spots or a allen wrench type fitting at top of bolt where nut is? That doesn' t sound normal.

I'm afraid of ripping the boot if I grab it by that.

If this is a new piece see if you can pull the boot down out of the way it's rubber so it should stretch a little, just be careful doing it. If not I have no further suggestions on this.
