I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. If you sit at an idle for any amount of time the temp gauge starts to rise.
If you put the vehicle in park and accelerate the rpm it will cool down.
What do you think the problem cuold be?

Have pressure checked for leaks and see if fans are kicking on correctly. Check coolant level.

No leaks visible. Not having to add fluid. The fan will kick in however it may not be working correctly.

Check your relay then and it may need a new ect switch. It could be a bad radiator as well, check for cold spots on it. If it has that then the rad needs fixing.
