hood release

Hood release is broken. There's no tension it's not even connected to the cable. I need to know how to open the hood from the outside.

Okay there is no "set way" to open a hood when the cable has broken but the guys int he shop always do it from under the car reaching up into the front of the car or you can do through the grill with a long standard screwdriver and try to activate the hood latch.
