I have a 2005 Infinity FX35 with a v-8 when i put it in drive i have very little power but in reverse its got plenty of power what could be the problem

Possibly the trans is not engaging in first gear and skipped to 3rd instead due to a fault in the transmission. Get a scan done to check if any trouble codes are present.

Does manually shifting to 1 makes any difference?
