My son uses my 2005 Tuscan and has let the gas run very low which he did the other day. While driving he went to accelerate and the vehicle was having problems picking up speed. I had someone (mechanic) look at it thinking it might be a fuel filter due to the truck running on E and sucking in setiment from the bottom of the tank but my mechanic seems to think that is not the problem. He has adviced me to take the car to have the transmission looked at. It runs fine and shifts ok, however, once you get the over 35mph it seems like it is starving to move. Any suggestion?

If the fuel level is too low, there is a possibility air has been sucked into the fuel delivery lines and that would result in lack of power.
