have a 2005 h2 hummer. It will shift from 1st to 2nd, but when it goes to 3rd, the rpm's go way up and will not shift. It was low on tranny fluid, put about 1/2 quart fluid in and it still had the problems. Any thoughts?

If it will shift from first to second, I might suspect a faulty 2-3 solenoid. If it is shifting from first to third, it may have an internal trans concern. The solenoid should be tested to confirm here is where the solenoid is located you will need to remove the pan to test and replace it.

Remove the 1-2 accumulator if necessary.
Disconnect the internal wiring harness electrical connectors from the following components:
Transmission fluid pressure switch (1)
1-2 shift control solenoid (2)
2-3 shift control solenoid (3)
Pressure control solenoid (4)
TCC PWM solenoid (5)
3-2 control solenoid (6)

Check out the diagrams (Below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers
