How do I Renstall brake shoes on a 2005 Honda Civic. Can not hold assembly in place and reinstall top spring, as piston is not secure in wheel cylinder and pops out.

The retaininig clips that hold the brake shoes in place should hold the shoes in place. If the piston is coming out, compress both sides (piston) in as far as you can. Also, make sure you have the shoe retainer connected before you replace the top spring.
