Hello, I tried starting my car earlier. But the key only came in half way. After that it wont budge after we tried putting wd40 for lubricant on the ignition cylinder it didn't work still the same results. We also tried moving the steering wheel left and right because maybe it locked but still nothing.

Hello I'm Tom,

I have seen that issue when someone had a key that broken off inside. Have you checked to see if was stuck in there. Do you have young children that could be play driving? it looks like the key and tumbler are worn. If you have a spare key see if that works.compare the two of them, look for wearing on the one used regularly. Looks like the cover is off the steering column look around the round part where the key goes in for any small wire leading to it that could have been disturbed. The key security wire might have a bad connection. Just to verify everything was normal and nothing happened recently? Make sure your battery has a good charge on it. This guide can help

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens. Let me know.

I saw I piece of metal inside the lock cylinder, I don't know what it could be done. It could be one of the lock tumbler stuck. I'm not too sure. And I only have the one key for the car. The battery was replaced last year. And no there are no kids there and it hasn't been moved in about a month now. Would I need to have the lock cylinder or the ignition switch replaced? Or would I just need a new key for the car? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Yes, if you see a piece of metal in there and no kids around the tumbler must be worn out and one of the internal pieces has come loose. You're probably going to need to replace the tumbler and get new keys.
