Hi, My car was vibrating when I drove it (between around 20-25 mph). I took it to a Honda dealership, who said I needed new front axles (the service write-up says "found front axles rusted and vibration"). I had them make that repair with NAPA after-market parts. The vibrating continued. I took it back 1 week later. They said the passenger side axle "failed" and replaced it (the service write-up says "excessive play", "leaking axle seal", and "diff worn a little"). The vibrating continued. I took it back 1 week later. They suggested the transmission needed to be replaced, but I was skeptical at this point because there was no mention of a transmission problem the first 2 visits. I decided to take it to another dealership and had them inspect the axles. Their service write-up said that there was no play or leaking. That was in August 2014. I had my state inspection done last week. It passed, but they said that the passenger side axle was "leaking badly", and suggested that I take it back to the dealership that repaired my axles. I did and they said that the transmission needed to be replaced. Do you think the "failed" axle could have caused the problem with the transmission? Thank you

The axle shouldn't have caused the problem unless it came apart and put excessive stress in the trans. It sounds like the seal needs replaced. What did the 2nd garage recommend be done?

They were the ones that did the inspection and only suggested that I take it back to the dealership that did the repair. I took it to a transmission place today that wanted to rebuild my transmission ($2800 est). Should I take it somewhere else?

Actually I just looked at the service write-up from when I first took it to them. It says "Verified concern/checked axles and found no problem, ran on lift and found shake in frt wheels rec. Starting with four tires and alignment.". I then purchased 4 new tires and had an alignment done right afterwards at a Goodyear place.

Yes, if someone else tells you it needs rebuilt, chances are it most likely does.
