I'm burning through a quart every 1000 miles, compression test came back good 190 across the board. Was told I need pistons and rings, reading a lot about changing drivers side valve cover something about a pcv valve or baffle system setup.

If the rings are bad, chances are you wouldn't have that good of compression and you would see blue smoke from the exhaust. Have you checked for leaks? Also, have you checked the coolant to make sure oil isn't mixing with it (bad head gasket)?
