How do you know if the air compressor is going out an what does it look like

tis is the best picture i can find of the compressor and it may be on the bottom of engine by radiator. normally it will be very noisy and your air may not work real well. this shold be replaced by a qualified person as the system may need to be cleaned due to pieces breaking off in compressor and being forced through system. Also the new one will need to have oil added and of course freon but the system will need to be evacuated before adding freon. it may cost up to $1000 for replacement but check around locally as prices vary accross u.s.
