what is causing exhaust smell in cabin on 2005 taurus when defrost is on and sitting idle?

We don't smell the odor all the time. Just when we are stopped at a traffic light and it seems to be mainly when the defrost is on.

If you are wondering if it might just be exhaust from other vehicles, I don't think that's the case. I believe it is coming from our vehicle.
