2005 Ford Freestar battery light

when we start the van the battery light flashes the rpms drop and the car runs rough and then it straightens out and runs fine and sometimes when you stop at a intersection it tries to die but hasnt yet. what could this be?

Are you sure that it's the battery light and not the Check engine light?

Then you need to monitor the battery voltage with a digital voltmeter when it does this and see what the voltage is doing
