2005 Ford Focus Car Been Sitting Couple Years Try Start Hard Time Starting

my car has been sitting for a couple years. when i try to start the car it has a hard time starting. the problem is when it does start it runs for a few seconds and dies. it also dies as soon as i push the gas pedel. what could be the problem.

There are many possibilities and I would start with replacing the gas.
