Engine repair

I have a F250 Ford Super Duty, 4 x 4, 6.0 Turbo diesel, 4Dr, 2005 Lariat Version. My mechanic states that he needs to lift the entire body in order to get the engine out & repair the engine which collapsed for over heating.
This sounds strange to me, does he really need to do that or can he get the engine out and repair it using one of those engine lifters?

This is a huge job but the body does not have to be removed to remove engine & transmission, if he wants to do it this way he does not know what he is doing i feel.

Hi, I´m the mechanic, thank you guys for your assistance. I need to pull the engine off so I can rebuild it, since it got overheated and toasted.
I´ve done the job before, and as far as I remember it was virtually impossible to remove (even less re-install) the engine without lifting the cab at least a bit.
Since you assure that I´m wrong, please tell me how to reinstall a totally rebuilt shiny engine inside this huge pile of steel without lifting the cab. I know I can pull off the heads first and then the rest, but a reverse procedure doesn´t look acceptable from my point of view, unless that I´m missing another possibility. Thanks for any help, you rock!

I read the procedure on Mitchell 1 it is very long and a bit much to re scribe here. i will go back and look for any key points that may assist you, but it certainly did not say anything about lifting the body.

OK here we go.....

I have omitted all fairly obvious electrics and brackets that must be removed you will know that, this is basically the order of removal according to Mitchell 1.

Remove.....
Bonnet or hood as you call it,
Fan stator,
air cleaner ass
air charge cooler'
A/C condenser,
Radiator grille,
Front bumper,
P/Steer cooler,
Trans cooler,
Upper radiator support,
intake manifold,
battery tray,
PCM connections,
8 & 12 pin connections,
heater hoses,
lower ad hose,
fuel lines,
stator stand offs
P/steer pump and mount,
exhaust,
torque converter bell housing,

Using jack lift engine to clear cross member and move forward and lift engine clear, there is mention of lifting adaptors,
Part no 303-D043-01 & 303-D043-02
