I have a 2005 Ford Five Hundred. Often while driving, the brake lights stay on. I have also made the connection that the cruise control doesn't work only at these times. When I pull the brake pedal from behind a little, they go off. I've been told by several people that it is probably the brake switch. When I mentioned it to my mechanic during a preventive maintenance appointment, he suggested that that was more than likely the problem. When I asked if it was a quick fix, he said that the difficult part would be actually getting it to the switch. Is this a common resolution to the problem I've described? And if so, is it as difficult to fix as I've been made to believe?
