2005 Dodge Neon Wont Start Unless Push Down On Gas Pedal Knocks Pretty Bad

My neon wont start unless I push down on on the gas pedal. It knocks pretty bad for about the first 5 minutes its started but then idles and runs fine. Not sure what I should be testing?

the knock may be important if it is a lifter. get someone to identify the knock and location and get back to us
