2005 Dodge Dakota Husbands Pick Driver Side Seatbelt Latched Buckle Release

My husbands 2005 Dodge Dakota pick-up driver side seatbelt is latched in buckle and when the release button is pressed will not unlatch what can he do about getting it undone or do we need to take to repair shop.thank you very much

You have to pry the cover off the receiving buckle to expose the buckle lock. You can then see what it is that the tab is getting caught on. The cover is heald in by tabs and is hard not to mess up a little bit when removing. The other option is to get a Torx bit set or the proper Torx bit and remove that end of the seat belt and get another one from a salvage yard, that is what I would do.
