when I start to drive and hit about 40 miles per hour the car will shake like I'm driving over grooves on the side of the highway. I let of the gas and it goes away. It seems to do it when it shifts into another gear.

It could it be something as simple as tire balance. Do you feel the transmission may be slipping? Have you checked trans fluid to make sure it is clean and full? Have you checked to make sure there are no shifted belts in one of the tires? Have you checked to make sure the tires are worn evenly and not cupped? Have you checked to see if you may have a bent rim? Has the check engine light come on to indicate a problem?
