cooling fans stopped running, so i bought a new fan, compared ohm readings to old fans, they match....
so ran 12 volts to old fans they ran fine.... so i checked voltage at fan plugs without fans plugged in I had 9 volts. So i plugged one fan in an checked volts at the other fan plug again, the volts dropped to 0. Is the fan relay bad.

With the fans powered up the engine runs at normal temp all the time.... with the fans disconnected the engine over heats unless driving with minimal stop and go traffic....

I would start by checking the relay. Switch it with another one in the box that has the same part number. Also, it could be a weak connection at the plug, a bad ground...

The relay is the easiest thing to check. Do that and let me know what you find.
