car overheating....plastic coolant container fills up overflows but doesent recycle coolent back into the radiator

Suspect a leaking cylinder head gasket. Combustion gases will push coolant into the reservoir and the leak will prevent vacuum from building to draw the coolant back into the radiator when it cools down. Your mechanic can do a chemical test at the radiator to verify a leak.
