2005 Chrysler 300 Transmission issue

My 300c turns on fine engine is perfect thing is when I put it into gear it does not respond to it. Say I put it into drive it does not respond it stays parked or if I put it into reverse it still doesn't respond . My question is what do I need to do is this a computer problem or transmission problem

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked trans fluid? Is it clean and full? Does the transmission actually shift from park, but not respond?

The check engine light did come on so I got the fluid change and it went away and it does actually shift but doesn't respond. Also before i parked it wouldn't go past 40 mph

Is it the engine or transmission that doesn't respond? Also, did you have the computer scanned for trouble codes since the light was on? Changing the trans fluid won't reset the light.
