2005 Chevrolet Other Just Had Replace 4 Damaged Valves After Water Pump Went

just had to replace 4 damaged valves after water pump went and slackend the timing belt causing it to jump on my 2005 chev tacuma.
after the garage botched the timing , now they say timing has been reset correctly but idling lumpy and getting noisy tappets any ideas?

start with a compression test to verify motor is good.

then you can see if there is an issue with the lifters.
