dead battery

2005 monte carlo battery keeps going dead, put on new alternator but car won't crank. Any suggestions?

The battery is five years old. Have you had it tested, or can you measure the voltage and post it?

What exactly are the symptoms? Are the head lights bright? Do they stay bright when you try to crank the engine?
