how to change 2005 monte carlo battery

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1.Remove the RH fender diagonal brace.
2.Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3.Disconnect the positive battery cable.
4.Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt (1).
5.Remove the battery hold down retainer (2).
6.Remove the battery (3).

IMPORTANT: Do NOT tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.

7.Remove the battery insulator from the battery.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1.Install the battery insulator to the battery.
2.Install the battery (3) to the battery tray.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.

3.Install the battery hold down retainer (2).
4.Install the battery hold down retainer bolt (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bolt to 18 N.m (13 lb ft) .

5.Connect the positive battery cable.

Tighten the terminal bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft) .

6.Connect the negative battery cable.
7.Install the RH fender diagonal brace.
