Car would not unlock

This morning I went to go to the post office and when I turned my key my car had a hard time starting. So I turned it off and waited a few hours. When I went back my car would not unlock when I pushed the button for the key-less entry. I unlocked my door with the key and that worked?

Cold weather will do strange things start at the battery as suggested
