My car is running rough when I'm idled and the heat or A/C is on. The other day I was actually driving and my RPM's were bouncing back and forth from 500 to 2,000 like crazy. My engine was revving. What could this be?

So it will only do it when the heat is on or ac is on when it does it at idle?Also does it have auto climate control or manual one?
