Car misfires

My car misfires when I reach the speed of 40 mph, it then loses power and the engine light starts to flash. It then suddenly changes and it picks up speed again, and the engine light stays on. A ticking noise has also just started. Have you any idea what could be wrong with the car please.

we have no info for these cars. have the engine scannedfor codes and check fuel pressure.
