Engine Overheating?

I just had the water pump and thermostat replaced but my car still overheats. It takes about 3 minutes of driving at overheating that the pump kicks on and the temp lowers less than a quarter of the way. Then the temp spikes again and the hot coolant warning light comes on. Need to know what I need to have investigated next.

Hello,

Have you checked to see if you cooling fan comes on? As it could be the cooling fans.
First you need to check the relays for the cooling fan and verify that they are good.

The relays are located under the hood in the fuse block.
If the relays are good then you will have to check to see if there is power going to the fan.
