Hello,

I would like to get the steps/drawings to be able to remove the clamp or hook of the top portion (where the driver's arm rests on top of) so that the forward-positioned hook-shaped locking mechanism of this upper part can be replaced since it is broken.

By broken I mean that this top portion keeps popping up when I am driving preventing the lower part of my right forearm from resting stationary on this armrest.

This is a driving hazard since the spring-loaded hooking device of this upper part fails to clamp on to the front edge of the tray portion which lies directly underneath of the top part. The result is that this upper part keep bouncing up and down whenever I drive over a bump etc.

It would be easiest if Toyota has available for purchase this small plastic hook-type(connected to a spring) piece which would solve the problem.

I have now removed all of the visible Phillip's head screws that are accessible and not hidden. But removing these screws still did not allow me to remove this broken plastic/spring piece to show the Toyota parts department for purchase etc.

If available, please send links to step-by-step procedures (with photos) that will solve this problem.

Any help on this project would really be great and appreciated.

This is not a common repair so you are not likely to find anything online. What you need is a copy of the manufacturer's service manual. This will be covered in the "Body" section. Do not waste your money on Haynes or Chiltons manuals for something like this.

You can also buy a subscription to an online manual. The two that independent repair shops subscribe to are AllData and Mitchell-On-Demand. Those include everything found in the manufacturer's manuals plus service bulletins, recall information, and repair data bases.
