Silly Question. Are the turn signal wires always live when the car is running?
Can I connect a rear back up camera to these wires or will these wires only get power when the signal is working/blinking?
Thanks, Paul

There is power to the switch all the time, but the wires out from the switch only get power when you turn the signals on.

Thanks so much!
Is there a set of wires near the rear of the SUV that have power when ignition is turned on? I don't want the camera to draw power all the time. Only when I'm driving. Right now its connected to the back up lights but the camera only works when I'm in reverse. I just wanted the ability to see passing vehicles from behind as well.
Thanks in advance for all your great help!
Paul

I was just thinking guys.I have a trailer hitch harness not being used under my SUV now. Can I take the 12v power and ground off of that and splice in the camera? This would be easy if it works. Please let me know,
Paul

You could do that, but there shouldn't be anything there that is hot all the time. In the rear of the vehicle, there are no wires that are always hot. Everything is either powered by the key or a switch.

Thanks again! I want the camera to be hot when the key is in or the car is running ONLY! What 12v wire from my hitch should I use that only is hot when car is turned on?
I have a 4 pin connector harness that connects to the vehicle by a round 6 prong adapter ( with 4 blades inside)
I have been looking everywhere on how to connect the ground (white) and whatever color (black? ) Is the hot from my vehicle.
Thanks again for all your help in advance!

Paul:
The wires in the harness are only hot when either the back up lights, signal, brakes, or parking lights are on. If those are all off, none of them will be powered.
