I hear a crunching type of noise when shifting gears. The transmission was rebuilt two years ago due to a torque converter failure but now I notice this noise when shifting.... What could be the possible cause and maybe what to expect as far as the extent of repairs.....?

u may have bad clutch plates causing this.it could be internal part failure.u will need to remove the transmission pan and look inside it for metal shavings.then u will know if u will have to remove the transmission for repair.

Thanks for the response... I have another question in regards to the part you suggested, would it still apply to an automatic transmission being that is the type that it happens to be? I just wanted to have as much of an idea of what it may be upon referring to a shop. I usually work on my own vehicles but I don't usually do aNY internal transmission work...
