After starting the car to back it into the garage this evening, it drove about 50 feet in reverse and then stalled. Now it won't start at all.

The engine cranks as long as the key is turned, but doesn't start.

Do you have any suggestions for troubleshooting? It doesn't appear to be an electrical issue (the battery was recently replaced and the lights, etc work fine).

Thanks.

It could well be a dead fuel pump.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I think you might be right (had a similar issue in an XTerra that turned out to be a fuel pump recall).

I don't think so, but thanks again. I'll ask a mechanic to look at it tomorrow.

Your car is not an E36. There are things to try first, but if you are having it taken care of then I will just wish you good luck mate.
