shift solenold

my bmw 320d auto 55 reg has its emergency mode light on and was told its the shift solenold,how serious is that and is it expensive to fix ? is there a simple solution ?i've had the car for a week is it worth taking back to the trader for this problem

Faulty shift solenoids are normally a fairly easy fix, access is normally just by dropping the trans oi pan off, wort a try to see if the dealer will do the correct thing and fix it for you.

btw do you mean the oil transmission pan?
im trying to get the dealer to deal with this matter .
