Hi,

I've noticed my car is making a "rattling" sound from the engine area. Specifically, if I increase the revs at idle (and there may or may not be a similar sound) and then remove my foot from the pedal there is a distinct rattling sound. This lasts for 1-3 seconds and then stops. The loudness of the noise is proportional to the number of revs I go to initially.

I also notice the noise when driving - e.G. When removing my foot from the gas pedal for a gear change.

I haven't noticed any decrease in performance, handling or fuel consumption.

Most commonly, it is a loose heat shield. Check that first. Take a rubber mallet and tap on the exhaust system with the engine off. See if you hear the noise.

Let me know what you find.
