'04 golf TDI sometimes clunks and lurches while shifting gears?

my '04 gold TDI sometimes lunges and lurches while it shifts gears. its an automatic. it doesnt do this all the time. it also sometimes revs higher than normail when we are idleing at a stop light, ect.

Have it scanned for hard and soft codes. It could be a problem with a shift solenoid. Check the level and condition of the transmission fluid. You want it reddish and not burned smelling.
