key out fan spins very fast

2004 vw passat gl 1.8t 103,000 miles electric fan spins when i turn on car and turns off when i take the key out .It spins very fast..it has a new oil pump, radiator, timing bellt?

check your fan relay it may be locked up.

Relay #8 is the high speed relay... it is triggered by the rad fan switch & the a/c pressure switch.

If the fan goes OFF when the engine is off, then the relay is NOT stuck on.

Trace the circuits and you will find your fault.
