key wont unlock the door or trunk

have a 04 vw passat, the key wont unlock the door or boot, and the buttons dont work, battery in key is good, so is signal from key, any help greatly appreciated.

Is the light on the FOB blinking red when you press the button? Pull the battery out of the FOB. It should have 3 volts. If it does, with the battery out of the FOB, perform a capacitor dis-charge by holding the lock button for 30 seconds. Re-test after this. If it still doesn't work, you will have to program the FOB to the CCM. you will need a VAS OR VAG scanner.
