My engine started smoking whilst driving yesterday due to a huge oil leak. The breakdown man said that their were three metal nuts inside the engine, one of which had blown a hole through the side. Is there any way that these nuts could have got into the engine through a fault with the car or have they deliberately been put into the engine through someone tampering with it? Thank you

if I were you I would get a second opinion, it sounds like the engine has been ran out of oil or excessively abused to have a hole in the side of the engine due to possibly a rod coming apart.
