Battery has no life until jump leads attached, then jumps into life, when jump leads disconnected again no battery life

Remove the battery and get it bench charged and then do a load test on it, if it is suspect replace battery, make sure that both battery terminals are clean and tight and fit over the post firmly.

If the battery tests ok, it would be a good idea to get the charge rate tested just to be on the safe side.
