Behind the right side of the valve cover. I attached a pic I found online.

where is the speed sensor location on a Toyota matrix 2003

Hi,

The vehicle speed sensor is located in the transmission near the top. Here is a diagram that show where is it.

Do you have a diagram for the 2003 XRS model matrix that used the 2ZZ-GE. Trying to figure out which of the 2 vss I need to change for a P0500 code. Thanks

Yep here is the transmission shaft speed sensor location

Hi,

I'm not sure if you need the wiring diagrams or the location, so I attached both. The first two pics are the wiring schematics for it. The last pic shows the location.

Note: The information below is for an automatic transmission. If you have a manual transmission, let me know.
