When on cuise control, a slight variation might occur depending on road gradient and wind conditions so it is nothing to worry about. The slight surge could be the lock-up clutch engaging or disengaging at that time.
When cruising, the rpm should be between 2.5 to 3k rpm. At more than 4k rpm, that would mean the transmission has not shifted to OD yet.
I don't think there is anything wrong at the moment.
