Where is the Knock sensor on the 4.0L V6? Do the Heads have to be pulled to replace the sensor?

Looks like they recommend removing the cylinder head to replace them but I have replaced them without. It is actually located under the intake manifold, but appears to be trapped until the head is removed, but like I said you can do it without removing the heads. See the attachments below for instructions on replacement.

So I am throwing a code for my knock sensor I figured out that the knock sensor is or should be located underneath my intake manifold. I just need to know which side of the engine? the battery side which is the left and driver side or the alternator side.

there are two knock sensors which you will see in picture. this is a 4.0L not a 3.0L do not over torque these as it can damage them. 15 ft lb or 20NM.

Hello,

The knock sensor is located under the intake manifold. Here are some diagrams (below) plus a guide that will give you an idea on what you are in for when removing the intake to replace the knock sensor.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken
