car starts really hard after sitting awhile until warmed up. the temp.gauge buries all the way to the hot side right away but not running hot.when gauge reads right it seems to start just fine. could this all be because of the engine temp, sensor?

It is possible and it could also be due to a bad wiring connection somewhere that is intermittently losing contact. It could also be due to a bad ground circuit.
