Car runs for a while and then over heats

2004 SUZUKI FORENZA

The car will run fine on the highway for 30 mins, then when i exit it will start to over heat. I turn on the defroster and it returns to normal operating temp. The thermistat is new. Could it be a clogged rad?

Is the cooling fan working properly and coolant level okay if so could be the water pump impeller
