I had the headliner replaced and since getting this replaced all the map lights and dome lights stay lit but dim. If I then turn on the map light it gets brighter. If in automatic they seem to go out when door opens. If I switch the dome light to off instead of automatic then they stay off all the time. Any suggestions? I am thinking the dome light and map light wiring got switched when he put the wiring harness back on the headliner but not sure if that would cause the problem. Need thoughts before I take headliner back out.

If they are staying on but dim, chances are there is a short to power or the ground for the lights is not good. Check for ground issues. Make sure none of the wires were damaged when the work was done. Somehow, power is getting back into the system through a shorted power wire or it's working backwards through a bad ground.

Would it make a difference if they go out when the door opens?

That's interesting. I still feel there is a ground issue.
