The ignition key to my 2004 saturn ion will not go into the cylinder all the way, will not turn any direction, no help to "wiggle" the steering wheel to disengage the pin locking mechanism. Dealer says I need new cylinder AND housing for over $500?

I think the cylinder is probably the right repair, sounds like the housing is extra noney for dealer.
I would take to locksmith and have then remove and rebuild lock cylinder or give an estimate.

Problem is car cant turn on so it needs to be towed whereever it goes. Cylinder has to be drilled out, dealer thinks that is where the housing will have problems.
