the engine temp on my saab hits max what is wrong with my car

is it a 4 cylinder or a 6cylinder ,should be a 4cyl if it is ,then replace your engine coolant thermostat ,but firstly r both your engine cooling fans working ,if yes next is there a vibration felt at idle if yes check engine balance shaft chain ,this chain drives the water pump, if broken ,then u will have problem with water pump ,good luck.
