When shifting the shifter will catch in gear and then kick it back out into neutral after a second or so only in 2nd and 6th. Took the car to a local dealership in my area and their mechanic drove it and confirmed it. An adjuster did the same. So we gave a to ahead for them to tear down the trans. They can't find the problem and I need help to suggest the next step. I don't have money to replace it out of picky and fedilaty is crappy.

The first place should sub it out to someone who can build the trans.
Really, this is not your problem, it is the shops, they accepted the job and must complete it.
